Event Details
-
Date: 12 August 2026
-
Time: 9:30 a.m. onwards
-
Venue: Colombo Foundation Institute (CFI), Colombo, Sri Lanka
The programme will focus on promoting sustainable water solutions for elephants and other wildlife inhabiting Sri Lanka’s dry-zone forests, particularly in the context of increasing climate variability and El NiƱo-related drought conditions. Through this initiative, we aim to raise awareness and encourage collaborative action to:
-
Provide year-round access to clean and reliable water sources for elephants and other wildlife.
-
Reduce human-elephant conflict by minimizing the need for elephants to leave protected habitats in search of water.
-
Strengthen climate resilience and biodiversity conservation through environmentally sustainable and renewable energy-based solutions.
-
Promote community participation in wildlife conservation and habitat protection.
This initiative brings together the interconnected goals of wildlife conservation, climate adaptation, renewable energy, environmental sustainability, and community engagement under one meaningful framework.
