Celebrating World Elephant Day 2014

A Rocha India in collaboration with the Karnataka Central Diocese – Ecological Concerns, commemorated the ‘World Elephant Day 2014’ at the New-life Centre, which works with street children. The one day program at this school engaged children between the age groups 6-14 years in a drawing competition on their concept of an elephant. A short documentary was screened for the children to be aware of the role of elephants as a keystone species. It was heart warming to see children who have probably never seen an elephant in their lives to show such enthusiasm and interest towards our cause. Which just goes to show that there is always hope in conservation, through a little effort.
