Flagstaff, AZ, USA: The Indigo Arts Collective is hosting our first benefit evening, Big Dreams Elephant Masquerade and Art Auction. This event features talented local artists, aerial performance artists, stilt parade and live music for an evening of celebration of these gentle giants on World Elephant Day. As elephants face extinction within the next 10 years we would like to raise awareness and resources to help in the conservation of these incredible creatures, not only the animals themselves but the communities that surround them to create long-term support.
We will open the night on August 12th, World Elephant Day with an Elephant Stilt Parade at 6pm leading all participants through downtown and back to the Green Room to start the night. From 7-9pm we will be hosting an Art show featuring local artists, all pieces will be available to purchase through our silent auction. We will also have performances by the Flagstaff Aerial Arts, Live Music and our usual Indigo Art Market will be set-up selling their beautiful creations. All proceeds from event will be donated to The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
“World Elephant Day is a rallying call for people to support organizations that are working to stop the illegal poaching and trade of elephant ivory and other wildlife products, protect wild elephant habitat, and provide sanctuaries and alternative habitats for domesticated elephants to live freely.”
– Patricia Sims, World Elephant Day Co-Founder
