World Elephant Day is August 12th – Help EAI Finish the Fence
World Elephant Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the numerous issues that face elephants, including the hardships captive-held elephants experience. Elephant Refuge North America (ERNA) will be a safe place where elephants can recover from past traumas and develop healthy bonds with caregivers and other elephants.
Before we can bring elephants into the refuge, we have to finish the Elephant Fence. We’re excited to announce that construction is already underway, but we have a long way to go.
The Elephant Fence will take approximately three months to complete, and when finished, will consist of 29,500 feet of seven-foot high posts with three horizontal strands of half-inch galvanized cable. This specially designed fence costs $14 per foot or $412,000 in total.
We are currently fundraising for the Finish the Fence Project. Please consider contributing to this campaign as a wonderful way to commemorate World Elephant Day, whether by donating $14 per foot of fencing or $60 per fence post, and help us reach our goal, foot-by-foot!
