World Elephant Day is very proud to announce that one of our Ivory Free Canada coalition partners, the Vancouver-based elephant advocacy organization Elephanatics, has generously assisted three Asian elephant sanctuaries in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Many sanctuaries are struggling to feed their elephants due to the shortage of tourists and volunteers. No tourism means no dollars and some sanctuaries have had to close due to lack of funds leaving elephants to starve in some cases. We felt it was necessary to assist as much as we could during this perilous time. We carefully chose sanctuaries from Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand to donate to“, says Fran Duthie, President and Co-Founder, Elephanatics.
